Description
“The Dark Side of the Moon” is the sixth studio album by Pink Floyd. Released in March 1973, the concept built on the ideas that the band had explored in their live shows and previous recordings. “The Dark Side of the Moon” was an immediate success, topping the Billboard 200 for one week. It subsequently remained on the charts for 741 weeks (fourteen years).
The album was originally released in a gatefold LP sleeve designed by Hipgnosis and George Hardie, and bore Hardie’s iconic refracting prism on the cover. In 2003 Rolling Stone Magazine listed “The Dark Side of the Moon” 43rd on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
