Description
”Lyle Mays” was the eponymously titled first solo outing by keyboardist Lyle Mays. Lyle Mays (November 27, 1953 – February 10, 2020) was an American jazz pianist from Wausaukee, Wisconsin, best known for his work with guitarist Pat Metheny, during which he collaborated with Metheny in composition and provides arrangements, orchestration and – most remarkably – the complex harmonic and metric backbone of the Pat Metheny Group‘s musical signature.
Mays’ place in jazz history is assured as the man who co-wrote many of the roup’s greatest songs.
