Description
On “Legrand Jazz“, Michel Legrand took 11 famous jazz compositions and arranged them for three different groups. The most famous session has Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Phil Woods, Herbie Mann, and pianist Bill Evans, performing music by legendary composer/performers Thelonious Monk, John Lewis, Jelly Roll Morton, and Fats Waller.
The Legrand Jazz sessions had been organized as a payment of sorts to Legrand, who had not yet been paid for some earlier works that he’d recorded for Columbia.
As recompense, the label offered him a New York date at its studios with his choice of repertoire and musicians.
Monaural. Very Rare. Columbia CL 1250. Worn Cover. G***
