“Moonbeams” (Import) is an album by Jazz pianist Bill Evans, and is a companion volume to his LP “How My Heart Sings”, recorded with Chuck Israels and Paul Motian.
“Moonbeams” is the first studio recording by the Bill Evans Trio following the sudden accidental death of bassist Scott LaFaro the year before. In July 1961 LaFaro was killed in a car accident, an event that took an enormous emotional toll on Evans, who withdrew from all work for nearly a year as he struggled to come to terms with the loss of his musical counterpart.
