Description
“Bill Evans At Town Hall Vol 1” is an album by Jazz musician Bill Evans, and was recorded Live at Town Hall, NYC. It includes the memorable piece “Solo – In Memory of His Father”, an extensive unaccompanied exploration by Evans that partly uses a theme that became “Turn Out the Stars”.
Featuring Chuck Israels and Arnold Wise.Bill Evans virtually defined jazz piano in the ’60s and beyond, and 1966’s “At Town Hall Volume 1” is one of the finest recordings from the middle period of his trailblazing career.
This was Evans last with longtime bassist Chuck Israels while tasteful drummer Arnold Wise rounds out the group.
Curiously there was no Volume 2.
