Description
“Southern Scene” is an album recorded in 1961 by the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
For some reason Brubeck was motivated to record a second album of songs associated with the South (as a follow-up to “Gone with the Wind“) and the results form this LP.
The sides include duo and trio sets without altoist Paul Desmond; eight standards ranging from “Oh Susanna” and “Little Rock Getaway” to “Darktown Strutters Ball” and “Darling Nellie Gray”; and two originals in the same style to round out the session.
