Description
“Plays the Best of Lerner & Loewe” is an album by jazz trumpeter Chet Baker fronting an all-star lineup featuring Bill Evans, Pepper Adams, Herbie Mann and Zoot Sims recorded in 1959. This was Baker’s last set for Riverside as he explored the Lerner & Loewe songbook.
The LP is full of the intertwining counterpoint soloing that brought Chet to fame when he was played with Gerry Mulligan, though by this time he was a junkie suffering a critical backlash.
