Alpha Centauri / Atem is a re-packaging of two Tangerine Dream albums: “Alpha Centauri” (1971) and “Atem” (1973). Because of Dr. John Peel’s enthusiastic endorsement of “Atem” (his “Album of the Year” in 1973) encouraging his listeners to buy the album through mail order houses, the group came to the attention of Richard Branson of Virgin Records.
