Description
“The Riddle” is an obscure recording by The Dave Brubeck Quartet without Paul Desmond. Instead longtime Brubeck cohort Bill Smith temporarily takes altoist Desmond’s place with the Quartet and contributes all eight compositions which utilize folkish variations on the English song “Heigh, Ho, Nobody Home.”
Although not too essential, this quirky set gives Brubeck a chance to play some unusual material.
Never released on CD. Rare. Out of print. Inscriptions. LP. Columbia CS 8248. G***
