Escalator Over the Hill<\/em><\/strong> (or EOTH) is mostly referred to as a jazz opera<\/em>, but it was released as a “chronotransduction” with “words by Paul Haines, adaptation and music by Carla Bley<\/strong>, production and coordination by Michael Mantler<\/strong>, performed by the Jazz Composers Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Received the “Jazz Album of the Year<\/em>” award from Melody Maker<\/strong> magazine in 1972. \u00a0Rolling Stone Magazine<\/strong> called the album “an international musical encounter of the first order”. Marcello Carlin<\/strong> of Stylus Magazine praised the album as “the greatest record ever made.”<\/p>\n

Side Six<\/em> of the original LPs ended in a locked groove<\/a>, the final track “…And It’s Again<\/strong>” continuing infinitely on manual record players<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Featuring Jack Bruce, Don Cherry, John McLaughlin, Gato Barbieri, Charlie Haden, Michael Mantler, Paul Motian, Don Preston, Linda Ronstadt<\/strong> and John Paul Jones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
