“Then Play On”<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is the third studio album by British\u00a0blues rock<\/a>\u00a0band\u00a0Fleetwood Mac<\/a>, released 19 September 1969 on Warner\/Reprise Records<\/em> after being lured away fro Blue Horizon Records<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Fleetwood Mac<\/b>\u00a0are a British-American\u00a0rock<\/a>\u00a0band, that formed in London in 1967. The band has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the\u00a0world’s best-selling bands<\/a>.\u00a0<\/sup>Fleetwood Mac was founded by guitarist\u00a0Peter Green<\/a>, drummer\u00a0Mick Fleetwood<\/a>\u00a0and guitarist\u00a0Jeremy Spencer<\/a>. They lacked a permanent bass guitarist for the first few months before Green convinced\u00a0John McVie<\/a>\u00a0to join, establishing the first stable line-up in time to record their\u00a0self-titled debut album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Danny Kirwan<\/a>\u00a0joined as a third guitarist in 1969, and keyboardist\u00a0Christine Perfect<\/a>, who was used as a session musician starting with the second album, later married John McVie and joined the band in 1970. In 1998, selected members of Fleetwood Mac were inducted into the\u00a0Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/a>, and received the\u00a0Brit Award<\/a>\u00a0for Outstanding Contribution to Music.<\/sup><\/p>\n

“Then Play On”<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is the third studio album by British\u00a0blues rock<\/a>\u00a0band\u00a0Fleetwood Mac<\/a>, released 19 September 1969 on Warner\/Reprise Records<\/em> after being lured away fro Blue Horizon Records<\/em>. It was the first of their original albums to feature\u00a0Danny Kirwan<\/a>\u00a0and the last with\u00a0Peter Green<\/a>. Jeremy Spencer<\/a>\u00a0did not feature prominently on the album apart from “a couple of piano things” according to\u00a0Mick Fleetwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The album, appearing after the group’s sudden success in the pop charts, offered a broader stylistic range than the classic blues of the group’s first two albums. The album went on to reach #6 in the UK, subsequently becoming the band’s fourth Top 20 hit in a row, as well as their third album to reach the Top 10.<\/p>\n

The title is taken from the opening line of\u00a0William Shakespeare<\/a>‘s play Twelfth Night<\/em>\u2014 “If music be the food of love, then play on”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
