Savoy Brown<\/b>, originally known as the\u00a0Savoy Brown Blues Band<\/b>, are an English blues\/rock\u00a0band<\/sup>\u00a0formed in\u00a0Battersea<\/em>, South West London<\/sup>\u00a0in 1965. Part of the late 1960s early 1970\u2019s blues-rock\u00a0movement,\u00a0Savoy Brown<\/strong>\u00a0primarily achieved success in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring (especially in Detroit, which they truly considered their home away from home).<\/p>\n

“Hellbound Train”<\/em><\/strong> is the eighth album by the band Savoy Brown<\/strong>. Comprising the same lineup as “Street Corner Talking”<\/strong><\/em>, Savoy Brown\u00a0<\/strong>released “Hellbound Train”<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0a year later. For this effort, Kim Simmonds<\/em>‘ guitar theatrics are toned down a bit and the rest of the band seems to be a little less vivid and passionate with their music. The songs are still draped with Savoy Brown’s<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0sleek, bluesy feel, but the deep-rooted blues essence that so easily emerged from their last album doesn’t rise as high throughout “Hellbound Train’s”<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 tracks. The title cut is most definitely the strongest, with\u00a0Dave Walker<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>Simmonds<\/em><\/a>, and\u00a0Paul Raymond<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>sounding tighter than on any other song…And from a wider perspective,\u00a0<\/em>Andy<\/em> Silvester<\/em><\/a>‘s<\/em> bass playing is easily\u00a0Hellbound<\/a>‘<\/em><\/strong>s most complimenting asset. \u00a0\u00a0On the US LP, the title track on Side 2 ends abruptly, as if to add dramatic finality.
